The name Raja Ampat (four kings) comes from local mythology that tells about a woman who finds seven eggs. Four of the seven eggs hatch and become kings that occupy four of Raja Ampat’s biggest islands whilst the other three become a ghost, a woman, and a stone. What exactly happens to these nobody seems to know!
It is located within the coral triangle and is considered the global epicenter of tropical marine bio-diversity. Due to its remoteness, (it takes 2 days to get there just from Bali) it offers spectacular diving, with everything from macro to massive – it’s not unusual to see dolphins, mantas and sharks on a regular basis.
